According to the NHTSA, the Smart ForTwo ED is a safe vehicle. While it didn’t achieve the highest possible 5-star rating, it did get 4 stars overall, which is pretty good considering how small this vehicle is. The Smart ForTwo Electric scored 4 stars in the frontal crash, 4 stars in rollover, and 5 stars in a side crash. Those results gave it a 4-star overall rating.
