Fisker working on entry-level range extended electric vehicle

Fisker recently appointed former Chevy Volt department leader Tony Posawatz as its CEO. This shift is to help Fisker target a much more affordable next car, to potentially compete with the Chevy Volt.

The Fisker Atlantic was to be priced well below the Karma, but last week Fisker announced the Atlantic has been delayed until late 2014 or early 2015. News of the delay came shortly after a series of problems encountered with the Karma model.

Fisker’s recent investor presentation revealed the automaker’s plan for this third plug-in. Only described as a P-platform model, this would be Fisker’s first entry-level offering, and by entry-level, Fisker is targeting the entry-level premium segment of somewhere around $40,000.

Fisker also hinted that the more affordable plug-in hybrid electric vehicle could be developed with assistance from a strategic partner.
