GM Korea has announced it will start making and selling the Spark Electric Vehicle in early 2013.

GM says it is investing more than $900 million annually to further the development of electric drive vehicles. Part of GM’s plan is to eventually export the Spark EV to the US, though few details have been disclosed. Lack of information has led many to believe that the Chevy Spark EV will likely only be available in California in limited quantities as an EPA compliance vehicle.

In March of 2012, Chevy started testing Spark EV cars in California and estimated that the car had an electric range of around 100 miles.

South Korea accounts for 25% of all Chevrolets sold globally.
