VW CrossBlue Plug-in Hybrid Concept updated and ready for LA Auto Show

Volkswagen’s CrossBlue Concept plug-in hybrid electric vehicle is getting closer to production. There is no official green light yet, but it’s obvious Volkswagen has made changes to it that make it production ready. When the CrossBlue debuts at the LA Auto Show on November 20, it’s possible production plans could be announced.

The revised CrossBlue concept is based off the new MQB architecture, and uses a turbo-charged, direct injection V6 gasoline engine paired with 2 electric motors. Combined power for the plug-in hybrid concept is 415 horsepower, and fuel economy is rate at 70 MPGe (no indication of what test cycle).

In all electric mode, the CrossBlue PHEV can travel 13 miles at speeds up to 75 mph. Top speed is 147 mph, and the 0-60mph time is 5.8 seconds.

In hybrid mode, total range would be around 570 miles.

Sounds to me like a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV competitor!
