Volkswagen e-Up! now on sale in the UK

Back in October, the Volkswagen e-Up! went on sale in Germany, followed shortly after by Denmark, France and the Netherlands. Now Volkswagen has announced official pricing in the UK for the e-Up! and as of December 2, UK buyers can now purchase the electric Up! for £19,250 (including £5,000 Government grant). Deliveries are expected to start before the end of January.

In the press release, Volkswagen says there are 24 Volkswagen electric vehicle specialists around the country that are specifically trained to sell the e-Up! (and presumably other Volkswagen electric vehicles slated to arrive in the near future).

The e-Up! is based on the multi-award-winning Volkswagen Up! city car, and is rated for 93 miles of range on the NEDC test cycle. Charging can be done in less than 9 hours from a standard 230-Volt plug, or with an optional wall box, a flat battery can be completely recharged in 6 hours. With access to a high power DC supply, the Combined Charging System can charge an empty battery to 80% in around 30 minutes.

The e-Up! looks very much like its petrol powered brother, except for identifying badges on the front fenders and the bootlid, as well as distinctive C-shaped LED daytime running lights and ‘Tezzle’ alloy wheels.
