UK gets an Outlander PHEV ‘4Work’ panel van

While North American buyers are still waiting at least a year for the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid, buyers in the UK get another model option to choose from.

The 4Work model of the Outlander PHEV is simply the standard model, with the rear seats removed, put blanking panels over the rear windows, and covered the rear cargo area in rubber coating.

While it seems like you could just fold down the rear seats for the same benefit, being a ‘van’ according to the UK motor vehicle law has the advantage of increasing the plug-in car grant up to £8,000. The Outlander PHEV van variant usually costs £36,905. With the grant, that price drops down to £29,524.

In addition, commercial vehicles allow the company to reclaim the 20% VAT for vehicles used exclusively for business use.
