Porsche Pajun will be EV only to fight Tesla, no gasoline or diesel versions

Porsche has been planning the Pajun(Panamera-Junior) model for some time. Recently, Automotive News caught wind that the Porsche Pajun will be a 100% electric vehicle, with no gasoline or diesel models. Porsche feels like there are already too many sporty sedans in the segment to bother trying to compete with the Audi A6, BMW 5 series etc. Rather, Porsche is looking ahead and deciding to compete with the Tesla Model S.

The Pajun is set to go on sale in 2018 or 2019, and Porsche is hoping that in the 3 or 4 years until the vehicle is released, battery technology will improve enough to have a range of 225-ish miles to avoid most people’s range anxiety.

Porsche didn’t make it clear when, or even if, the Pajun would be available in the USA, although we like to think it would be since the USA is one of the largest EV markets in the world.

Automotive News ended the article with a note that the Panamera Junior will likely have a different name than Pajun when it comes to market.
