Nissan e-NV200 headed to US for further testing

Nissan hasn’t specifically said where in the US the e-NV200 will undergo testing with FedEx, they have announced the electric van will be tested in the US, Brazil and Singapore ahead of the 2013 launch of the vehicle.

The Nissan e-NV200 all electric van is a cross between the gasoline powered NV200 and the Nissan Leaf. So far, Nissan has tested the van in England and Japan for various duties, including working with FedEx and the Japanese Post Office.

The city of New York and the city of Londan, England have already committed to help Nissan test the taxi variant e-NV200. The taxi version of the Nissan e-NV200 is designed to carry passengers and luggage and will look very similar to the passenger e-NV200 that was unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. Small differences in the taxi version will include a slightly further back rear seat and advertising screens.

Nissan has already won a $1 billion exclusive contract from 2013 to supply New York City with taxis for 10 years.
