Nissan e-NV200 electric van now starting testing in USA

Announced at the Washington DC Auto Show yesterday, Nissan said that FedEx will be one of the first companies to test the electric van in the US. FedEx is already testing the EV in Japan, Germany, and some cities in Singapore.

The Nissan electric van uses the same drivetrain as the Nissan Leaf, but since Nissan hasn’t released any performance figures, there is speculation that the electric van could receive a larger battery pack, or an incrementally more powerful motor.

Nissan will start building the electric minivan in Barcelona, Spain, this spring and is planning on selling it in Europe and Japan.

Nissan isn’t saying that the e-NV200 is coming to North America, but the US testing hints that something may be in Nissan’s future plans.
