Nissan USA is donating some Nissan Leaf electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging stations to Middle Tennessee State University – and the vehicles will be able to get to the campus in less than one full charge! Nissan will give 2 Leafs and 3 charging stations to the university as part of the school’s fleet. The charging stations will be available to students, faculty and visitors to the campus.

The University is located 15 miles south of the Smyrna, Tennessee Nissan Leaf plant that will be online by the end of the year.

U.S. sales of the Leaf are down 26 percent from the same time last year, but Nissan and electric vehicles enthusiasts predict that people are holding off until the 2013 Nissan Leaf model comes out with it’s upgrades. Nissan is also hinting that prices may lower once the Tennessee plant comes online.
