Picking up where many people feel Ford left off when they announced the Ford C-Max Energi wouldn’t have sliding doors or a third row of seats, Nissan has just debuted an all electric minivan dubbed the Nissan e-NV200.
With design cues coming from the Nissan Leaf, the Nissan e-NV200 concept even sports the same Nissan Leaf auqua blue color and ‘zero emission’ graphic on the side. The front bumper, front charge port and even the shape of the headlights are very Leaf-like. However, the interior seems much more thought out and has some nice refinements over the Nissan Leaf.
The driver sits in front of a unique set of instruments that Nissan is calling the flat C-cluster display. The Nissan e-NV200 also has EV specific gauges and meters such as battery gauges and range information.
Nissan is claiming that the e-NV200’s battery pack will provide similar range to the Nissan Leaf. The laminated lithium-ion battery pack is rated at 24 KwH. Just like the Leaf, the Nissan e-NV200 is powered by an 80kW electric motor and has a torque rating of 207 lb-ft.
The interior of the Nissan e-NV200 has plenty of room inside for passengers and cargo. Although Nissan is currently planning to target the van to commercial use such as taxis, Nissan also plans to market to family use within large metropolitan areas.
Currently just a concept, Nissan is calling the Nissan e-NV200 concept a potential mass-production vehicle, whatever that means.
Edit: Slightly confusing is that the press release states the Nissan e-NV200 has 2 rows of folding seats, and yet images of the concept clearly show there are only 2 rows of seats, and we’re pretty sure the driver’s seat wouldn’t fold down.
