Mitsubishi talks North American Outlander PHEV timelines and details

Autoblog had a chance to attend the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with Mitsubishi, and while there, managed to corner some executives and ask some tough questions about the upcoming US launch of the 2016 Outlander plug-in hybrid.

According to Mitsubishi Motors North America executive vice president Don Swearingen and US PR cheif Alex Fedorak, the version of the Outlander PHEV destined for the US will be ‘completely different’ from the current version rolling out of dealerships in Japan, Europe, and Australia. It will be a next-generation vehicle, part of the restyle that Mitsubishi is doing for 2016 that will resin the Outlander in a new design language.

Fedorak also said that the ‘touchy-feely points we’re been getting dinged on’ will be upgraded.

When will the Outlander PHEV finally get to North America? ‘Probably late November’ 2015 according to Fedorak, who added that was his best guess at this time.
