In Japan the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been available since January 24th. In the first week of sales (Jan 24 – Jan 31), the Outlander PHEV sold 506 units, beating 11 of the 16 Mitsubishi models available in Japan!

Of course, some of the early spring in sales is due to the pre-sold Outlander plug-ins and early adopters that have been waiting for the release with much anticipation. However, a Japanese blog says many of the pre-orders were actually delivered in February, or even still waiting for delivery. Soon, Mitsubishi will be releasing February sales numbers and then we’ll really know when the Outlander PHEV stands.

After the European unveiling of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV at the Geneva Motor Show, pricing was announced as € 43,490 – € 51,990 for the Netherlands, with delivery scheduled for July 2013. Dealerships there have nearly sold out of their allocated stock for the complete 2013 year. Mitsubishi reports 2,500 pre-orders, and Netherlands dealers are quoting delivery times of October or November 2013.

Mitsubishi will go on sale in Australia in June 2013. Paul Unerkov, Mitsubishi Australia vice-president, hinted that the pricing will be between $40,000 to $50,000 AUD.

Swedish pricing is set at 419,900 SEK – 475,900 SEK and deliveries begin in August 2013.

Mitubishi has pledged to build enough of the Outlander PHEV to meet demand, so there’s no thinking this will be a compliance vehicle in the US.
