Kia is recalling all Soul (including Soul EVs) vehicles from the 2014 and 2015 model year made prior to January 8, 2015.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the accelerator pedal on affected vehicles can break, which increases the chances of a crash.
A section of the accelerator pedal may bend and fracture. If the vehicle has a bent or broken accelerator pedal, the driver may have difficulty accelerating the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash”, says the NHTSA in its recall summary of the problem.
