Back in 2013, Hyundai stated that their sister company Kia would work on electric vehicles, while Hyundai would work on fuel cell vehicles. At the 2015 NAIAS, Hyundai announced an upcoming plug-in hybrid due by the end of 2015.

The Hyundai IONIQ is the first electric vehicle from Hyundai, but it actually comes in three flavors – a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and a 100% electric. The IONIQ Electric is currently the most efficient electric vehicle for sale in the USA!


Hyundai Kona Electric

The Hyundai Kona Electric is a small crossover SUV set to hit markets in the fall of 2019. In Europe, the Kona EV comes with 2 battery pack sizes, but only the larger pack will be available in the USA and likely Canada. The Chevy Bolt is currently the only competition for the Kona Electric in the small crossover fully-electric category.


Hyundai Tucson FCEV

The Hyundai Tucson ix35 FCEV is in production since 2013. With a tank capacity of 5.64 kg of hydrogen, the Tucson FCEV can travel nearly 600 km before needing to refuel. The Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell is the world’s 1st mass produced fuel cell vehicle.
