Ford Focus Electric receives 5-star crash test rating

The 2013 Ford Focus Electric has earned the top safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The electric vehicle, Ford’s first 100% electric vehicle, received a 5 star Overall Vehicle Score in the NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program testing. The test combines vehicle performance in absorbing crash impact from the front, side, as well as resistance to rollover.

Ford was excited to receive such high ratings, and said “the Focus Electric no offers both a top vehicle safety rating from the NHTSA and faster charging technology,” which means the 2013 Focus Electric will be even more attractive than it’s 2012 ancestor.

The Ford Focus Electric uses multiple safety features that helped it earn the 5-star rating. With front and side airbag technologies that change their deployment based on individual occupants, small children and large adults can be protected more effectively.
