The Chevy Spark EV is currently entering production in South Korea, and will go on sale their shortly. The US and Canada are also confirmed to receive the Spark electric vehicle, as well as selected markets throughout Europe.

However, InsideEVs found out some interesting information at the Canadian International Auto Show this week. According to GM, “…at initial launch in Canada, Spark EV will be a Fleet vehicle only and pricing will be announced closer to launch. It will be eligible for Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia provincial EV incentives.”

Further questioning revealed that the 2014 Chevy Spark EV will likely only be available to commercial customers. The 2015 Spark EV, which would go on sale in the fall of 2014, might be the earliest date the Spark EV would be available to the Canadian public. The Canadian rollout could of course be affected by how well the Spark Electric Vehicle will do in its limited US roll-out this fall.

The Chevy Spark EV is set to retail under $32,500 when it goes on sale in the US, and GM says it is “expected to have among the best EV battery range in its segment and be the first electric vehicle to offer SAE Combo DC Fast Charging capability, enabling the Spark EV to reach 80-percent battery charge in just 20 minutes.”

The Chevy Spark EV forum has some great pictures of the Spark EV as well as some discussions about how it will compete with the Honda Fit EV and the upcoming Fiat 500e.
