Audi expands testing of A1 E-tron

Currently, the Audi A1 E-tron is just a prototype. After announcing the vehicle back in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show, Audi has been testing the A1 E-tron in Munich. This year, Audi plans to expand the testing to the German regions of Bavaria/Saxony, Berlin-Brandenburg and Baden-Wurttemberg.

Officially, the A1 e-tron is not scheduled for production, but expanding the field testing does make us wonder if that could change in the near future.

The Audi A1 E-tron is powered by an 101hp electric motor and a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is good for 31 electric miles. After that, the 254 CC Wankel engine takes over to provide another 124 miles of range.

Audi claims the vehicle weighs 2600 pounds and can reach 62 mph in 10.2 seconds, with a maximum speed of 80 mph.
