This morning Volkswagen announced US price for its electric Golf that is due out in November. Volkswagen has priced it higher tha the $30,000 LEAF, and lower than the $40,000 BMW i3. Right in the middle, is the e-Golf at $35,445 plus an $820 delivery charge.

In the US, Volkswagen e-Golf buyers won’t have a choice of trims – it only comes in the top-end SEL trim that includes a heated windshield, LED headlights, a touch-screen interface, and CCS combined charging system, which  puts it more comparable to the Nissan LEAF S trim level that is priced similarly.

The e-Golf comes with a 24.4 kWh battery pack, the same capacity as the LEAF, and Volkswagen claims it can travel 85 miles per charge.

Volkswagen will limit the e-Golf to a few states initially, and it may never be available as widely as the LEAF.
