Nissan start e-NV200 production in Spain

Earlier this week, Nissan started production of its second all electric vehicle in Barcelona, Spain. Nissan’s Chief Planning Officer Andy Palmer said “This is a great landmark day for Nissan, starting production of our second electric vehicle”

Just as with the Nissan Leaf, the number of markets will grow after the first launch as production is ramped up. Initially, Nissan says the e-NV200 electric van will be available in 20 international markets, but Nissan isn’t specifying what those markets are. The Nissan e-NV200 is slated to launch in Japan and the UK as early as next month, and it’s estimated to arrive in the US some time in earl 2015.

Barcelona will be the first city in the world to introduce the e-NV200 taxi. “This e-NV200 taxi has renewed significance in the wake of record levels of air pollution in London and Paris,” said Palmer. “Bringing a significant number of zero emission vehicles to Barcelona’s streets will ensure cleaner air for every citizen, visitor and tourist, and we’re confident that forward-thinking councils everywhere will be clamoring to bring these benefits to their municipalities in the coming years.”

JDM version, to be released in 10/2014, will have both 5 and 7 seater options (in addition to the work van 2 seater)!
