Nissan Leaf goes on sale in Australia

It’s been almost a year and a half since the Nissan Leaf was first available in the US and Japan. Now, the Nissan Leaf is available in Australia. Surprisingly, the Leaf costs $51,500 AUS which converts to about $52,400 US. There are also no government incentives in the country to help lower the cost for consumers.

The Nissan Leaf isn’t the only expensive vehicle in Australia. The Mitsubishi i-Miev went on sale in 2011 at a price of $63,000 AUS. Mitsubishi did lower the price of the 2012 i-Miev by about $15,000 to $48,800 AUS.

Nissan says the Leaf is ‘just the first EV that Nissan will introduce to Australia.’ Nissan hopes to bring other electric vehicles from their EV range to Australia in the future. We can only assume they are talking about the e-NV200?
