GE WattStation charging stations damaging some Nissan Leafs

General Electric’s WattStation charging stations are being blamed damaging the Nissan Leaf on board charger in some cases. GE has acknowledged the issue with the charging station and is working with Nissan to solve the issue. One Nissan dealership int he San Francisco area emailed Leaf owners telling them not to use the WattStation because it may disable the electric vehicle from being recharged.

The issue is likely due to a diode in the car’s charging system, and the Nissan Leaf is the only electric vehicle affected by the issue. GE’s official response is that they are working with Nissan on a fix. GE started selling the chargers about a year ago and confirmed that no other cars are affected by the issue. So far, Nissan hasn’t announced a no-use policy in regards to the charging station.
