Nissan Electric Vehicles
Back in 1999, Nissan introduced a limited production all electric 2 seat mini car. The Nissan Hypermini was only available in Japan in the greater Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto metropolitan areas in February 2000. It had a claimed range of 71 miles per charge. According to Nissan, only 300 were ever made.
Fast forward 10 years. Nissan was the first company to have a mass-produced all electric vehicle for sale in North America. In August of 2009, Nissan announced the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle would start production in 2010. In December of 2010, the Nissan Leaf went on sale in select markets including Japan, Europe and the United States.
Since then, Nissan has released several concept electric vehicles including the Nissan Townpod, Nissan Esflow, Nissan Nuvu and the Nissan Land Glider.
Nissan is committed to pure electric vehicles, and is moving towards bringing more all electric vehicles to market. Nissan has been quoted as saying they will have 5 all electric vehicles on the market by 2015.

Nissan Leaf
The Nissan Leaf was the first mass-produced electric vehicle to be available in the USA. Over 6000 have been sold across the country, and Nissan is still expanding the areas that the Nissan Leaf is available in. In late 2011, the Nissan Leaf became available in parts of Canada as well now that the 2012 Nissan Leaf comes with a cold weather package. In late 2017, Nissan unveiled the updated and redesigned 2018 Nissan Leaf. It will come with 2 battery pack options 40 kWh, and 60 kWh, to give it a range to directly compete with the Chevy Bolt and the Tesla Model 3.
