S-Class Plug-in getting wireless charging - industry first?

Tue May 17, 2016 10:50 pm

I just read on Auto Express that the next generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class PHEV will have wireless charging.

“We already have a working prototype . . . battery capacity is predicted to double every five years, so the next S-Class plug-in will also have an increased range.” Jochen Strenkert, head of Mercedes Hybrid Powertrains

Set to arrive in the summer of 2017, in the 3rd generation configuration, that will also include a larger battery capacity that will likely double the current EV range of 20 miles on the S550 PHEV.
