Fisker automotive has issued a recall notice on all 239 of it’s Fisker Karma electric vehicles. The Fisker Karma, with a price that starts at $103,000 US, is recalling the cars because of a fire hazard, according to a report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety administration.

In the report, Fisker said a hose clamp was not properly position and could allow a coolant leak. If the coolant leaks and enters the battery compartment, and electric short could occur, which could cause a thermal event in the battery and in a worst case scenario, start a fire.

Fisker Auto said the problem was discovered on December 16th when workers at the assembly plant in Finland saw coolant dripping. Fisker hadn’t received any customer complaints, but wanted to take the safe route and notify and recall vehicles before any issues occur. Since fewer than 50 of it’s cars were actually in customers hands, it’s a fairly simple task.

Under federal law, vehicle dealers can not sell any remaining new models until the recall is complete.
