First Mitsubishi i delivered in Hawaii today

There are now 2 fully electric vehicles officially available and out in the wild in the USA. Today, the governor of Hawaii, along with the local dealership, delivered a 2012 Mitsubishi i to a happy couple. They are the first people to have ordered and received the Mitsubishi iMiev all electric vehicle.

Last year the Nissan Leaf was deliver on December 12th, followed by the Chevy Volt on December 18th. This year, Mitsubishi is delivering it’s first 2012 Mitsubishi iMiev electric vehicles only weeks before the New Year. And yes, I know what you’re thinking – didn’t Mitsubishi deliver a Mitsubishi iMiev to a company in San Francisco at a big press event on December 8th? Yes, they sure did – but that wasn’t to a retail customer, that was a Mitsubishi i purchased by a company and destined for fleet and rental operations. Honda has an electric model only available for limited leasing and other companies do as well. The Mitsubishi i that was delivered today is the first one in the country to be owned by a private party, used by someone who has an interest in lessening their carbon footprint, and saving some money in the meantime.
