At the Detroit Auto Show, the Cadillac ELR received much of the buzz and was awarded the Eyes on Design award as Best Production Vehicle. The original concept was unveiled in 2009 and dubbed the Converj – that means it’s been a near 4 year process to get to this point.
Tim Kozub is the exterior design manager at Cacillac and he recently said that the design team used the Converj as a sketch to create the ELR. He thinks the proportion was everything in the design. From the car being low and wide to the 20 inch wheels way out near the corners, it all helps give the ELR its striking appearance. “It just plants itself so beautifully,” he said.
Also noteworthy is finally some confirmation that the Cadillac ELR performance will be amped up compared to the Volt because its a Cadillac. “Everybody wants this hot car, this hot image coupe, to sit in their driveway, to step out of it at a restaurant,” he says in the video below.
