From the Frankfurt Motor Show, the official unveiling, here are some photos and information on the 2014 Mercedes Benz S500 plugin hybrid. Powered by a 3.0 liter V6 engine, and an 80 kW electric motor, the S500 plug-in hybrid joins the S400 hybrid and the S3560 BlueTEC hybrid vehicles.
The S500 plug-in hybrid can go from 0-62 mph in 5.5 seconds, and has a 19 mile range on pure electric power. Overall efficiency is rated at 78 MPG US (but was tested on the European cycle).
The first Mercedes plug-in hybrid will arrive in Germany in 2014. A US launch is scheduled, but no dates were provided.
